Bombay Velvet was Titanic, Raman Raghav is boat: Anurag Kashyap
With Raman Raghav 2.0, Anurag has seemingly gone back to his earlier days of making movies on shoe-string budgets.
Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap feels his upcoming 'Raman Raghav 2.0' will sail through in the box office unlike his last 'Bombay Velvet'. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, the period-drama was touted as Kashyap's most ambitious project in terms of scale and budget. However, the film could not do well.
The 'Dev D' helmer is now ready with his next, 'Raman Raghav 2.0' in which he has seemingly gone back to his earlier days of making movies on shoe-string budgets. When asked if there is a pressure to deliver at the box office with his latest, Kashyap told reporters, "Pressure for box office comes when there is a massive budget. It (pressure) is there with every film in general, we want it to work. But not that pressure which was there for the previous film. My last film was Titanic, this is a kashti (boat)," the filmmaker said at the launch of 'Qatl-e-Aam' song for his latest directorial ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ last evening.
Kashyap is known to make dark niche movies but the filmmaker says for him every film he makes is a commercial movie. "For me every film of mine is commercial. Whatever film I make I make it thinking like that (commercial). After that you decide whatever it is. For me this is a commercial film only."
‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ is scheduled to release on June 24.
